Le Samedi  20 mars 2010, a eu lieu le premier mariage à bord d’un Kanawa (pirogue amérindienne).  Cet événement inédit marquait l’aboutissement d’un long travail pour Karisko et ouvrait de nouvelles perspectives pour l’association.  Le chantier d’insertion a participé à toutes les préparations et animé avec beaucoup de succès l’évènement.

« Kanawa Myel » fait partie d’un panel d’activités sportives, ludiques, culturelles et gastronomiques, novatrices, labellisées Karisko.  Il s’agit des balades à bord de Kanawa  pour par exemple les mariages, les lunes de miel, anniversaires, la Saint Valentin,….qui peuvent s’effectuer  en journée, au clair de lune ou au crépuscule. 

Les nouveaux mariés, Nadège et Julien,  originaires de la métropole, se sont rendus depuis la mairie au quai du bourg de Sainte-Luce. Ils  étaient accompagnés de leurs familles, leurs  amis et de  l’adjointe au maire  de Sainte-Luce, Mme Valérie William.  Au quai attendait le Kanawa «Akayouman »  avec les kanawakis  (rameurs) dont six participants du chantier d’insertion « Karisko-Insert ».   L’ambiance festive était assurée par les musiciens du Trio de Sully Cally et par les filles du chantier qui accueillaient les invités en formant une  haie d’honneur.  Les média étaient également au rendez-vous et les mariés  ont été interviewés par les journalistes d’ATV, RFO et France-Antilles.  

Le kanawa partait vers Trois-Rivières  suivi  de bateaux accompagnateurs  au bord desquels se trouvaient les familles et les amis des mariés.  En cours de navigation, Mme Valérie William a brièvement effectué  une cérémonie renouvelant les promesses des jeunes de s’aimer jusqu’à ce que la mort les sépare.

English version: Last Saturday, the 20th March, took place the first marriage on board of a Kanawa (a big Amerindian canoe).  This innovative event was the culmination of long work for Karisko and opened up new horizons for the association.  The social integration workshop participated to the preparation and animation of the event with great success.

« Kanawa Myel » is part of a panel of cultural, gastronomic, sportive, playful and innovative activities, labeled Karisko.  “Kanawa Myel” is a ride on board of a Kanawa for (for example) marriages, honeymooners, birthdays, Valentine’s Day etc. The tour can be done in daytime, on sunset or during full moon.

The newlywed couple, Nadège and Julien from Metropolitan France, proceeded from the town hall to the pier of Sainte-Luce.  They were escorted by their families and friends and by the deputy mayor of Sainte-Luce, Valérie William. On the pier waited the “Akayoman” Kanawa with the “kanawakis” (rowers) six of whom participants of the integration workshop.  The festive atmosphere was guaranteed by the musicians of the Sully Cally Trio and by the girls of the workshop, who welcomed the guests by forming a guard of honor.  The media was also present and the married couple was interviewed by local press and TV.  The kanawa left for Trois-Rivières followed by the accompanying boats on board of which’s were the family and friends of the newlyweds.  During the sailing the deputy-mayor renewed the promises of the young couple to love each other ” until death do them part”.
